چکیده

The electrical performance of transmission line insulators will decrease dramatically under ice-covered conditions, and ice flashover may occur operating voltage. There is no direct effective monitoring method for cover on lines. In this paper, the interface quasi-distributed fibre Bragg grating (FBG) used to study positioning detection glaze icing loads composite insulators, a mechanical lever model single load umbrella with three FBGs established. Based model, multi-glaze location multiple skirts proposed. Six optical fibres 13 each are implanted into 110 kV insulator. minimum test FBG detecting load, axial/circumferential sensing rule glaze, weight simulation laboratory verification multi-glazes multi-umbrellas carried out. results show that simulated by weights accurate, in basically correct.

Quantum theory of fibre Bragg grating solitons*

Following the pioneering work of Professor Haus, a general quantum theory for bi-directional nonlinear optical pulse propagation problems is developed and applied to study the quantum properties of fibre Bragg grating solitons. Fibre Bragg grating solitons are found to be automatically amplitude squeezed after passing through the grating and the squeezing ratio saturates after a certain grating...

Measurement of Surface Strains from a Composite Hydrofoil using Fibre Bragg Grating Sensing Arrays

This report details a methodology for the permanent attachment of fibre optic strain gauge (Bragg grating) arrays to the surface of a composite hydrofoil and reports on an experiment to measure surface strains from the hydrofoil under static and fatigue loading conditions. The strain data from the optical gauges is compared to measurements from electrical resistance strain gauges nearby and to ...

A Magnetostrictive Composite-Fiber Bragg Grating Sensor

This paper presents a light and compact optical fiber Bragg Grating sensor for DC and AC magnetic field measurements. The fiber is coated by a thick layer of a magnetostrictive composite consisting of particles of Terfenol-D dispersed in a polymeric matrix. Among the different compositions for the coating that were tested, the best magnetostrictive response was obtained using an epoxy resin as ...
